Job Description
“Be a Buddy”
Help make the world a better place, one life at a time.
PROGRAM:
Our hope for the “Be a Buddy” program is to help the individuals we serve to make lasting friendships with other members of the community. Each volunteer is partnered with an adult with disabilities with an identified interest with volunteers who share similar interests such as, going to the library, walk on the beach, catching a movie, painting a picture, or discovering a life-long dream.
Being a Buddy offers those we serve the opportunity to enjoy the everyday things that we all like to do as well as feel more connected to their community and be more social.
TRAINING:
We want everyone to feel successful so we provide a series of trainings offered in a one day seminar. Questions are encouraged. Once you have completed the initial training we will offer you optional future trainings.
The Volunteer Coordinator will assist you throughout your commitment and accompany you on outings until you feel comfortable working one on one with your Buddy.
COMMITMENT: Because our hope is to assist those we support in making lasting friendships with other members in the community, we ask that the time commitment is consistent, on-going, and long term. Ideally, it would be great to volunteer each week for a few hours.
CONTACT INFORMATION:
If you would like to start the process of “Being a Buddy” or you have any further questions, please contact the Volunteer and Internship Coordinator.
