"Support, Encouragement, Empowerment"

Volunteer

Volunteering is a noble giving-up of our time and effort to help the world evolve into the kind of world we know it can be.

Are you looking for a way to deepen your commitment  to humanity? Assisting adults with disabilities stay connected to their community and to be seen as a full citizen is a rewarding endeavor. We all have the right to learn and grow and to take reasonable risks in the pursuit of our dreams and adults with disabilities are no different-they just need a little help.

TRAINING:

If you have never worked with an adult with disabilities, that’s ok! We provide in-depth training so you will feel prepared to take on any of the volunteer positions available. Volunteers are also provided with on-going support from the Volunteer and Internship Coordinator. So, if you have the desire to “Be a Buddy”, work with The 8th Avenue Advocates or hold any other volunteer position, we will assist you to be successful.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • If your volunteer position requires the use of your private car to transport clients, we need a current driving abstract and proof of insurance.
  • Complete all training
  • Have a current CPR card (Free CPR training is provided)
