"Support, Encouragement, Empowerment"

Job Description

8th Avenue Advocates Assistant

The 8th Avenue advocates is a small disabilities rights group made up of local self advocates. The group focuses on legislative advocacy, public education and personal empowerment. In 2001, Kokua began sponsorship of the 8th Avenue Advocates with the belief that the community benefits when all of its citizens fully participate in community life.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Volunteers will work with and be supported by the 8th Avenue Advocate’s Coordinator. Volunteers can work on one job duty or all three aspects.

DUTIES:

  • Twice a year the 8th Avenue Advocates puts out a Newsletter. If you have the skills or are willing to learn the skills to help with the design and production of their Newsletter, your time would be greatly appreciated.

  • If you like small-scale fundraising, you are the person the Advocates need!

COMMITMENT:   The time commitment is approximately 3-5 hours per month. The environment for this position is very relaxed. Working with the 8th Avenue Advocates is a wonderful way to make a huge difference in the community.
